These are cresent shaped sweet pastries filled with coconut, raisins & nuts and is incomplete without this. I absolutely love how granny adds semolina to the filling. Back home she makes a big batch for all of us.

This is our first attempt in making nevrio. Mel shaped most of these, good work champ!!

Sharing my grans recipe, this makes around 30 medium Nevrios, swipe right to see the pics.
๐Ÿ’ฎ2 cups (400g) All purpose Flour – pinch of salt & water to knead- form a soft dough if the dough is too sticky you can grease oil or ghee, cover with damp cloth & set aside for 15 mins.
๐Ÿ’ฎ Filling – 1.5 cups (250g) finely grated coconut- 1/4th cup (60g) fine semolina/ rava – 1/3rd cup (80g) heaped chopped cashews & almonds , handful of raisins , 1 tbsp sesame seeds (white & black) roasted, 1/2 cup (100g) fine white sugar or caster sugar, 1 tsp Cardamom powder.
๐Ÿ’ฎ Dry roast each ingredient separately . Roast coconut until slightly brown. I have used dry shredded coconut from coles so haven’t browned it. Lightly roast rava for 3-4 mins it shouldn’t change color followed by mixed nuts & sesame. Combine everything in a bowl add sugar & cardamom pwd mix well.
๐Ÿ’ฎ Divide & shape dough as shown in the pics (don’t roll them too thin). Place 1 tbsp of stuffing on one half of the circle, grease the sides with water fold the second half over press gently. Use a fork or knife to design the edges & cut of any extra dough. Deep fry these on medium flame (you might have to reduce flame once you start frying) until they have a nice brown color. Allow to cool & store in a airtight container.
